Good News for Seahorses: Project AWARE: Hippocampus hippocampus,Hippocampus guttulatus
Good News for Seahorses Project AWARE is pleased to announce increase protection for two vulnerable British Seahorse species. As of April 06th 2008, the Spiny and Short-Snouted Seahorses will receive extra protection against being sold, killed, injured or taken from the wild under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981. The protection will also make it an offence to disturb or damage their place of shelter. [...]Short-Snout Seahorse Hippocampus hippocampus is stocky in appearance, with ‘horns’ above the eyes, often with a dark line running through the eyes.
The colourations range from bright reds and oranges to the more commonly sighted browns or black. The species reaches 12-15cm when fully grown and seems to prefer grass beds and rocky habitats. Spiny Seahorse Hippocampus guttulatus is the larger of the two species, reaching 20 cm when fully grown. The Spiny Seahorse gets its name from its distinctive mane of appendages which run along the head and down the back. The appendages and the olivey brown colouration are method of camouflage for the Seahorse in its eel grass habitat.[..]

Esta será sem duvida uma óptima oportunidade para ver ou rever algumas das suas fotografias, de trocar algumas ideias com eles, de falar um pouco de mergulho.
Uma boa oportunidade para conhecer o que está por debaixo da Superfície do Oceano!
